The leading video game giant Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been accessed by some players ahead of its scheduled release on March 20.
In a statement on X (formerly known as Twitter), Ubisoft acknowledged the leak, urging fans to refrain from sharing spoilers as the development team continues refining the game with final patches. Ubisoft team writes, “We are aware players have accessed ‘Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ ahead of its official release.”
“The development team is still working on patches to prepare the experience for launch and any footage shared online does not represent the final quality of the game,” the company added further. The company said that such leaks are “unfortunate”.
Originally slated for November 15, 2024, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has faced multiple delays; first to February, then to March, pushing its launch just before Ubisoft’s fiscal year-end.
The delay has contributed to Ubisoft’s financial struggles, with the company reporting a sharp third-quarter revenue decline earlier this month. Ubisoft attributed the drop to underwhelming new releases and the postponement of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which is set in feudal Japan and expected to be a major revenue driver.
