The prominent creator behind the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) franchise, Rockstar Games has acquired Australian studio Video Games Deluxe. According to a report, the studio will be rebranded as Rockstar Australia.ย
Video Games Deluxe, based in Sydney, has an established history with Rockstar Games. The studio notably contributed to the development of L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files and more recently played a role in the Android and iOS ports of GTA Trilogy: The Definitive Edition.
These mobile adaptations of Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, and San Andreas were well received. It offers an enhanced experience over its original PC and console remasters released in 2021.
Founded in 2013 by Brendan McNamara, Video Games Deluxe has a strong bond to Rockstar, as McNamara was previously the founder and creative director of Team Bondi, the studio behind L.A. Noire (2011). With this acquisition, Rockstar Australia is expected to take on more ambitious projects, potentially including future remasters, re-releases, or post-launch support for upcoming titles.
โItโs been an honor to work closely with Rockstar Games this past decade,โ Video Games Deluxe founder Brendan McNamara said. โWe are thrilled to be a part of Rockstar Games and to continue our efforts to make the best games possible.โ
