Thereโs disappointing news coming out for gamers as the tech giant Microsoft confirmed the departure of big titles that are going to leave Xbox Game Pass later this month, including five fan-favorites games.
Xbox Game Pass, a subscription-based service that offers a rotating library of games for Xbox consoles and PC, regularly adds and removes titles. While this month saw the arrival of Obsidianโs much-anticipated RPG Avowed and the viral card game Balatro, Microsoft has now confirmed which games will be departing.
According to the official Xbox website, the following titles will be removed from Game Pass on March 16:
- Lies of P-A dark and twisted take on the classic Pinocchio tale.
- Yakuza 5 Remastered and Yakuza 6: The Song of Life- Two beloved entries in Segaโs legendary crime drama series.
- SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom-Rehydrated– A remastered version of the cult-classic platformer.ย
In total, 8 games will be removed from the service on March 16.ย
New Additions to Xbox Game Pass
While these departures may disappoint subscribers, Xbox Game Pass will also be adding three major titles this month:
- 33 Immortals (March 18)– a co-op action roguelike where 33 players battle together.ย
- SOPA: Tale of the Stolen Potato (March 26), which is a whimsical adventure game.
- Atomfall (March 27)– Dubbed the โBritish Falloutโ, this new game will be a Day One release on Game Pass.ย
Good News for Lies of P Fans
Despite Lies of P leaving the platform, its fans still have something to look forward to. Developers have confirmed that a prequel expansion is set to launch this summer. The DLC will allow players to explore new areas of Krat, uncover hidden backstories, and engage in epic battles that expand the gameโs lore.
Additionally, a full-fledged sequel is currently in development. Game director Jiwon Choi has promised to refine and expand upon the originalโs strengths. โFor the DLC and the sequel, we aim to do better on what we did well and improve in areas we have room to grow,โ he said. โIt might sound simple, but I find that sticking to the basics is anything but easy. We hope to turn your anticipation into delight.โ
Other reports suggest that the PlayStation 5 version of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle could be launching as early as April.
