It sounds like Bungie is preparing to come up with a big announcement about Marathon, the studioโs highly anticipated extraction shooter. After months of radio silence, new signs are pointing to a reveal โlate next week,โ according to veteran games journalist Jeff Grubb.
The statement was made during the latest episode of Game Mess Decides, where Grubb noted that Bungie is preparing to share โa lot moreโ about the game in the coming days.
The teaser gains weight after subtle hints dropped on Bungieโs social media, which sparked discussion among fans. Originally revealed during the PlayStation Showcase in 2023, Marathon has since remained largely in the shadows, with only concept art and developer commentary made public.
Grubb said, โI think April [is] when we will probably hear from them about Marathon. And it would be its own thing separate from the State of Play.โ
Grubb has previously hinted that Marathon would skip PlayStationโs State of Play for this very reason. โTheyโve done it before with Destiny. Bungie likes to orchestrate its own reveals,โ he explained.
Also, the report suggests that Marathon pre-order bonuses were recently spotted on Steam, which suggests a launch might be closer than expected. Meanwhile, rumors swirl about a second Bungie project codenamed โGummy Bears,โ said to take cues from Smash Bros.
If next weekโs reveal includes substantial gameplay, Bungie could finally offer fans more than just concert art.
