Nintendo is giving Mario Kart World its own special Nintendo Direct today, April 17. The presentation will run for 15 minutes and will give fans a closer look at the upcoming game.

Mario Kart World Direct Today

You can watch it live on Nintendoโ€™s official Twitch and YouTube channels, or through the Nintendo Today app, which launched a few weeks ago.

Many fans were surprised by this announcement, as Mario Kart World was already displayed during the Nintendo Switch 2 event and on Treehouse Live.

But since then, this is the first brand-new Mario Kart game in years. With the main launch title for the new system, Nintendo clearly wants to create hype before its launch on June 5.

So far, Mario Kart World looks very different from past games, according to players who got a chance to play early.

While classic racing modes are still there, this game adds a large open world that players can explore outside of races. Nintendo has not shared how big this world is yet, but it seems packed with secrets and fun areas.

One new mode thatโ€™s getting a lot of attention is the Knockout Tour. In this mode, 24 players compete, but only some move on after each round. That means racing your best in every match is more important than ever.

People who got the chance to play the game early say it looks better than Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and feels more exciting. Some even say it reminds them of Forza Horizon, with more freedom to explore.

According to the report, the game will cost $79.99, which has sparked some debate. But todayโ€™s Direct might help explain why, by showing just how much content and fun the game really offers.
