Tech mogul, Elon Musk has confirmed that his artificial intelligence company, xAI, will launch an AI-powered game development studio. The announcement came during the demonstration of xAI’s latest AI model, Grok 3.
Elon Musk, a longtime gaming enthusiast and CEO of xAI is planning to transform the gaming landscape through advanced AI technologies. “We’re launching an AI gaming studio at xAI. If you’re interested in joining us and building AI games, please join xAI,” Musk said.

This initiative aligns with Elon Musk’s vision of AI-based innovation by leveraging xAI’s capabilities to create immersive and dynamic gaming experiences. Elon Musk’s interest in gaming is not hidden from anyone, as he has previously seen playing popular games like Diablo IV, Elden Ring, Path of Exile 2, and Polytopia.
The move is expected to challenge traditional game development patterns by integrating generative AI into game design, world-building, and gameplay mechanics. Musk has previously voiced strong opinions on the influence of modern-day politics in video games, arguing that the unwanted influence of politics in a game.
His stance suggests that xAI’s gaming studio will focus on creating experiences free from contemporary socio-political narratives.
The announcement comes after an interaction between Musk and Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis on X (formerly Twitter). DeepMind recently introduced Genie 2, a world model capable of generating playable 3D environments. While Hassabis noted that the technology is still under development, Musk expressed his excitement for potential collaboration on AI-driven gaming solutions.
Musk’s interest in gaming dates back to his early career, when he worked as a software intern at Rocket Science, which is a game development company. His in-gaming achievements have also attracted lots of attention, including his popular claim of ranking among the top 20 players globally in Diablo 4.
