According to the latest report, Bengaluru police have registered a First information Report (FIR) against the controversial betting platform 1xBet for illegally live-streaming the ICC Champions Trophy without authorization.

The complaint, filed by Star India, alleges that the platform broadcasted the tournament despite lacking a valid license or agreement.

The FIR calls for the arrest of individuals involved in the platformโ€™s operations in India. It has been registered under Section 43, 66, and 66D of the Information Technology Act, 2000, along with Section 318(4) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, replacing the Indian Penal Code.

The case has been filed against unidentified individuals, with sources indicating that celebrities associated with 1xBet will also be investigated to determine their role in the platformโ€™s activities within the country.

Celebrities Under Scrutiny for Promoting 1xBet

Among those reportedly under investigation is Bollywood actress Urvashi Rautela, who has previously promoted illegal gambling platforms. Authorities are set to examine the involvement of public figures endorsing 1xBet in India.

โ€œAny telecast, transmission, or streaming without the companyโ€™s express permission violates Starโ€™s copyright and broadcast reproduction rights,โ€ Star India stated in its complaint.

Despite multiple government-imposed blocks, 1xBet continues to operate illegally in India. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has previously issued advisories urging a ban on advertisements promoting unlicensed betting and gambling platforms.

1XBet has faced regulatory scrutiny across several countries. The platform is banned in the US, UK, Russia, France, and Spain due to its alleged involvement in money laundering and illegal gambling activities.

With legal proceedings underway, further developments are expected as authorities deepen their probe into individuals and entities linked to 1xBetโ€™s operations in India.
