Big Time Studios, the developer behind the web3 game Big Time, has officially announced the launch of the highly anticipated Player vs. Player (PvP) mode, set to go live on December 2. The release of this feature marks a significant milestone for the game, following a successful preseason phase and further cementing Big Time’s place within the rapidly growing crypto gaming industry.
Big Time is a multiplayer action role-playing game (RPG) that blends fast-paced combat with a unique open-game economy. Set in a universe where time itself is unraveling, players embark on quests across different eras to battle dark forces and protect humanity. One of the game’s key features is its seamless integration with web3 technology, allowing players to craft and trade digital collectibles, earn $BIGTIME tokens, and participate in a shared economy without the disruptive elements commonly associated with blockchain-based games.
In addition to its engaging narrative and expansive world, Big Time has achieved notable success during its Early Access phase. The game has garnered over $443 million in marketplace volume, attracted more than 310,000 players during the preseason, sold nearly 2 million digital collectibles, and had 1.4 million unique users on the Open Loot platform.
The new PvP mode adds a competitive dimension to Big Time, allowing players to engage in intense Player vs. Environment vs. Player (PvEvP) battles. These matches, which typically last between 30 to 45 minutes, are designed to provide an immersive experience that will appeal to both casual players and competitive gamers alike.
One of the key features of the PvP mode is the introduction of PvP portals, located in Epoch City. These portals transport players to a dedicated PvP lobby where teams must pay an entry fee in $BIGTIME tokens.
The rewards vary depending on the portal, adding an element of strategy to the game. Players will also be required to build teams by selecting character classes and allocating skill points using special PvP Pocket Watches. To ensure fair competition, the mode starts at level 10, providing all players with an even playing field.
The PvP mode includes a new gameplay area called the Tendrils, where teams face a series of challenges, including battling enemies and rival teams. The ultimate goal is to reach the central arena, where teams will engage in fierce combat to secure control of the central point and claim the winning prize.
To add an additional layer of strategy, players can use various elements such as resurrection shrines, potions, and Pocket Watches to disrupt opponents and adapt their strategies throughout the match. This dynamic mix of teamwork, skill, and strategic depth promises to elevate Big Time’s PvP mode and keep players engaged as they navigate this new competitive landscape.
