Battlestate Games has released patch 0.16.2.0 for Escape from Tarkov, which brings major improvements to the game’s AI across both PvP and PvE modes. This long-awaited upgrade follows feedback from an in-game survey, which helped shape the latest changes.
Key AI Upgrades in Escape from Tarkov
The update introduces major tweaks to AI capabilities, which affect Scavs, Rogues, Raiders, and Bosses. According to some reports, here are some notable improvements include:
- Sniper Scavs and all difficulty-level Scavs now have 30-head HP.
- AI PMCs are 80% more likely to perceive AI Scavs as hostile.
- Bots turn their heads toward potential targets for better visual tracking.
- The detection speed for Hard difficulty bots now matches Normal difficulty bots.
- AI PMCs detect enemies 20% faster and adjust fire modes based on range.
- Regular bots no longer hide in vegetation and have reduced vision in dense cover.
- AI PMC weapons now have increased durability.
Changes to Players Scavs and Spawn Mechanics
Players Scavs also see some adjustments:
- Spawn timing now begins 17 minutes into most raids, excluding Factory, Reserve, and Ground Zero.
- Players with high Fence standing will have a better chance of spawning with improved gear.
Game Stability and Fixes
The patch also optimizes overall game stability, particularly in Customs, reducing in-raid memory consumption and adjusting shadow settings to improve performance on lower-end PCs. Additionally, Battlestate Games has addressed key bugs, which fixes issues like bots teleporting through doors and missing Cultist Circle rewards.
