After months of speculation and leaks, Game Freak has officially revealed Pokemon Champions, a new multiplayer-focused battle game. The game is developed in partnership with The Pokemon Works, which is a joint venture between The Pokemon Company and ILCA.

Pokemon Champions will center around strategic battles, which feature the seriesโ€™ signature turn-based combat. The game will allow players to challenge one another online and includes popular mechanics like Mega Evolution and Terastalization.

The trailer hinted at a game that contains different battle styles from various Pokemon generations, making it a true celebration of the franchiseโ€™s combat history.

One of the unique features of Pokemon Champions is its integration with Pokemon Home. It means players can transfer their Pokemon from previous games, finally giving them a purpose beyond storage.

This feature is expected to add great depth to the gameโ€™s competitive landscape, as trainers can build diverse teams from past generations.

Currently in development for Nintendo Switch and mobile devices, Pokemon Champions has yet to receive an official release date. However, it has been confirmed that the game will be playable in Latin American Spanish at launch, alongside other languages traditionally supported by Pokemon games.

Fans may find Pokemon Champions similar to Pokemon Synapse, a leaked project from last yearโ€™s infamous โ€œFreak Leakโ€. The leak revealed internal documents, unreleased games, and concept art, with early speculation comparing Synapse to Splatoon. However, the official reveal clarifies that Pokemon Champions is more focused on traditional battle mechanics rather than shooter-style gameplay.
