Krafton, a South Korean gaming giant, has acquired a controlling stake in Indian studio Nautilus Mobile for $14 million. The deal grants Krafton over 75% ownership of the Real Cricket developer, which shows the companyโs growing interest in the cricket gaming segment.
The announcement comes amid the 18th Edition of the Indian Premier League. This acquisition tops up Kraftonโs initial $5.4 million investment in Nautilus Mobile in 2022 and marks its latest effort to diversify its gaming portfolio beyond its flagship battle royal games like BGMI (Battle Ground Mobile India).
With this deal, Nautilus Mobile becomes Kraftonโs 13th studio, which joins a roster that includes PUBG Studios, Bluehole, Striking Distance, and Tango Gameworks.
Kraftonโs India corporate development lead, Nihansh Bhat, โWe strongly believe that cricket games have a lot of potential. And we want to work with Nautilus to make the best effort possible to really realize the potential of this market, not just in India, but in other cricket-playing nations and other countries, which are becoming more active in cricket.”
โOur development capability in Nautilus will help Krafton double down on its India gaming strategy, and together, we can probably build more games, more genres, both for the Indian market and global market going forward,โ said Nautilus CEO Anuj Mankar.
The acquisition comes after Kraftonโs record-breaking financial performance in 2024, where full-year revenue soared to $1.85 billion with a 41.8% hike.
