Three key industry bodies representing online real money gaming companies in India; All Indian Gaming Federation (AIGF), the Federation of Indian Fantasy Sports (FIFS), and the E-Gaming Federation (EGF)-have jointly signed a โCode of Ethicsโ (CoE). The code aims to enhance user safety through measures like LYC verification, spending limits, and responsible gaming policies, which is a joint statement confirmed on Monday (March 10, 2025).
The CoE will be adopted by member companies, including Dream11, My11Circle, Khelo Fantasy Live, SG11 Fantasy, WinZO, Games24X7, and Junglee Games, among others.
The guidelines highlight age-gating, stringent KYC procedures, self-exclusion options, and user-set spending limits. The statement also noted that the framework aligns with global best practices and mandates annual third-party audits to ensure transparency and accountability.
“The CoE is aimed at enforcing consistent standards of user safety across the industry through the implementation of responsible gaming and advertising policies and mandates annual third-party audits and comprehensive reporting mechanisms to ensure accountability and transparency,” the statement reads.
“Through collaboration with other industry federations, we are setting new benchmarks for ethical gaming, strengthening the credibility of India’s online gaming sector, and building a sustainable, globally competitive ecosystem.” All India Gaming Federation (AIGF) CEO Roland Landers said.
The announcement comes amid growing efforts by the Indian government to regulate online gaming. While the Ministry of Electronics and IT is yet to implement the online gaming rules announced in April 2023, Tamil Nadu has introduced strict regulations, including a ban on minors playing real-money games and restrictions on gaming hours between midnight and 5 AM.
Anuraag Saxena, CEO of EGF, highlighted that unethical gambling operators have harmed the industry for too long. He said, โUnethical gambling operators have been parasitically harming the nation, its exchequer, and its people. I’m delighted that the industry is collaborating on the joint code-of-ethics today.”
The CoE covers critical aspects like data security, fair gameplay, and the appropriate management of player funds. It applies to all skill-based real-money gaming operators under the federations, which protects the interest of over 50 crore Indian gamers.
