Sony and Insomniac Games appear to be turning the tide for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC, with the latest update, ‘Patch 8’. The new update will bring welcome performance fixes after months of technical turbulence.
Spider-Man 2 Patch 8
When the most awaited PC port launched in January, fans were thrilled to swing through New York City as Peter Parker and Miles Morales. But their excitement was quickly tempered by widespread performance issues.
From frame-rate drops to persistent crashes, the game’s initial reception on Steam reflected the disappointment, with reviews pointing to the gap between the game’s rich content and its unstable technical execution.
Now, nearly 3 months on, the situation has markedly improved. According to Steam, the game currently holds a “Very Positive” rating, with 84% of users giving it a thumbs up.
This shift is largely credited to Nixxes Software, the studio behind the PC port, which has steadily rolled out fixes to address user complaints.
Patch 8, released over the weekend, signals a turning point. The update fine-tunes performance in areas with dense tree coverage and resolves a long-standing crash that occurred when players exited the game during high-speed vehicle chases.
These changes may seem minor, but they hint that the most severe bugs have likely been squashed.
