Rockstar Games is reportedly exploring the integration of user-generated content in Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6), which transforms it into a dynamic metaverse-like platform. According to a Digiday report, the gaming giant is in discussions with top creators from Fortnite and Roblox to bring custom assets, experiences, and brand-sponsored content to GTA 6.

Rockstar appears to be aiming for an expansive online ecosystem, where third-party intellectual properties (IPs) could feature prominently. By tapping into the expertise of Fortnite and Roblox creators, the company could introduce user-generated content, including customized environments, digital assets, and in-game monetization opportunities.

While no official revenue-sharing model has been disclosed, the move could mirror Fortniteโ€™s creator economy, where developers earn a cut from in-game purchases.

GTA 5 online has long embraced user-driven experiences, allowing players to engage in role-play servers and create custom mods. This success led Rockstar to acquire FiveM, a major GTA 5 modding community, in 2023. Over the years, GTA 5 Online has evolved into a lucrative platform, generating revenue through in-game purchases, properties, and vehicle customizations.

GTA 6 is expected to take this model further, offering deeper creator participation and potentially brand collaborations.
